Off to a good start. The boys brought their Innovation Project ideas and models to share with each other. They used a very democratic voting process and decided on the winning idea. This winning design will be the one we work on for this year’s Innovation Project.
Core Values
This week some real core values were shown. SHOUT OUT to the boys, especially Jackson; for their innovation. The work done on the Innovation Project was well done and showed their ingenuity and imagination.
“Together Everyone Achieves More (TEAM).”
During the Robot Game practice time some nice Teamwork was exhibited in this weeks first meeting.
Innovation Project Ideas
Each of the boys came with a great idea for the Innovation Project. They presented their ideas with prototypes and models. These were their amazing ideas.
Wheelchair Treadmill / Trainer
Garden Track 2000
Aqua Chair
After each of the boys presented their ideas to the team, they voted for the one that we would focus on. With some deliberation, they voted to make the Wheelchair Treadmill / Trainer the innovation that they would work on.
Missions 02, 09, 11, 12 and 06
The coaches scratched the treadmill (09) with the power of yet. It was showing to be difficult from the consistency point of view.
Jackson has the step counter (02) and getting under the pull-up bar (06) in a good place so that Andy can take over and get going on the row machine (11). Kailash is putting together the mapping and should be ready to take on the weight machine (12).
Wait, didn't we have issue with our attachment? Yes, we did. Kailash and Andy built an attachment (hinged rake) that uses a worm gear. That attachment is able to manage the torque needed for the weight machine. What they found next was that our attachment mounting wasn't strong enough. A redesign of the attachment mount was needed to keep it all in place.
